B'nai Mitzvah

Alena Danielle Alter will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah Saturday,
April 24, at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek West Bloomfield, B'nai Israel
Center. Among those participating in
the ceremony will be her parents,
Denise Goodwin Alter and Robert
Alter, and her older brother Jordan.
Alena's proud
grandparents are
Dr. Herbert
Goodwin and
Grace and Jona
Alter. She is also
the granddaughter
of the late Barbara
Goodwin. She is
happy to be cele-
. brating the occa-
sion with her great-grandmother Julia
Rosenthal.

Alena is a student at Warner Middle
School in Farmington Hills. As part of
her mitzvah project, she made blan-
kets to accompany children in emer-
gency vehicles in Israel. To honor the
memory of her grandmother Barbara
Goodwin, Alena will make a donation
to ALS of Michigan Inc.

Jacob Zachary Bolton, son of Jane
Kelley and Steven Bolton and brother
of Laurel, Sabrina and Alexi, will cele-
brate his bar mitzvah Friday, April. 23,
at Temple Israel. His grandmother is
Dolores Kelley. He is also the grand-
child of the late Esther and Bernard
Bolton and the late
Darrell Kelley.

Birmingham. He
chose as one of his
mitzvah projects to
help with . the
Camp Mak-a-
Dream Cookies
and Dreams. fund-raiser; he also raised
funds by collecting cans, which he
donated to Washington Middle
School in Pontiac for the purchase of
books.

Meagan Olivia Bonner (Rivka Alisa),
daughter of Eugene and Tina Bonner
celebrated her bat mitzvah at Temple
Emanu-El Saturday, April 17. She is
the sister of Sarah, Emily, David and
Caitlin and the granddaughter of
Olivia Bonner.
Meagan is a sev-
enth-grade student
at Jane Addams
Middle School in
Royal Oak. She
volunteered at Yad
Ezra in Berkley;
worked in the tem-
ple vegetable gar-
den, which provid-
ed vegetables for
Yad Ezra; helped build the labyrinth at
temple with sixth- and seventh-
graders; volunteered at Gilda's Club
Walk last summer; and worked at
Laurel Place in Livonia, sorting and
selling books with the Friends for
Literacy.

Hayley Jane Goldenthal (Hannah)
was called to the Torah as a bat mitz-
vah Saturday, April 17, at Temple
Israel. She is the daughter of Claudia
and Robert Goldenthal and sister of
David and Steven. Her proud grand-
