In March 2000, a suitcase arrived at the Tokyo Holocaust
Education Resource Center in Japan.

Children who saw the suitcase on display were full of
questions. They turned to Fumiko Ishioka, the center's
curator, to find the answers.

tkn

The mystery of this little suitcase took Fumiko on a
suspenseful journey across Europe and North America,
through 70 years of history, and to George Brady, Hana's
brother and only surviving relative.

S SG

Fumiko and George poignantly retell the life and times
of Hana and the painstaking steps to unearth her story
—a narrative filled with discovery, truth, friendship and
a hope for the future.

The story of the suitcase and Hana's life are artfully
recreated by Karen Levine in an award-winning book,
Hana's Suitcase, based on Karen's radio documentary of
the same name.
