T

he 11th annual Women's Power Breakfast to benefit
Gleaners Community Food Bank was held March
10, at the Max M. Fisher Music Center in Detroit.
Gleaners Community Food Bank works with 300
agencies in southeast Michigan and provides 65,000 meals each
week to hungry people in our community. More than 280
patrons attended the event.
The much-needed dollars that we have all contributed to
this event will help Gleaners give the gift of nourishment to
thousands of hungry children and adults throughout
Michigan," said Michelle Gilbert, public relations manager of
Verizon Wireless, one of the breakfast sponsors.
The breakfast keynote speaker was Waltraud "Wally"
Prechter, of the Heinz C. Prechter Fund for Manic Depression.
Prechter spoke about the types of depression and how prevalent
depression is in our society. She mentioned the innovative
methods and the need to study the illness. She ended her elo-
quent, informative speech with, "Together we can find a cure."
Michelle Gaggini, Faye Nelson and Roberta Toll were co-
chairs. Founding chair Dulcie Rosenfeld also greeted many
guests. Gleaners President Agostinho Fernandes addressed the
crowd and exclaimed, "This is the breakfast of champions."
