T here are very few developed hospice pro- grams in Israel. The concept of end-of-life care simply isn't that well understood. In an effort to remedy this unfortunate situation, the Federation's Partnership 2000 board established a hospice program modeled after JHCN in its region in Israel: the Central Galilee. In an ongoing effort to support this initiative, JHCN coordinates a series of exchanges between American and Israeli health and hospice professionals that is highly effective in transmitting our goals and expertise to our Israeli counterparts. Now in its fifth year, this program is made possible by a generous gift from the Milton and Lois Shiffman family. ■ A Does JHCN only serve hospice patients? No! JHCN works with all terminally ill patients. This includes patients and families who are still pursuing curative treatment and those who are at the end of life, but may elect not to use a hospice program. JHCN provides services from the time of referral throughout the treatment process and end- of-life.
