One Fiancee To Go

Lonely doctor ordered only a hamburger with fries,
but wound up with much, much more.

hen Dr. Kevin Agrest
of West Bloomfield
staggered into the Big
Boy restaurant on
Orchard Lake Road at Maple for a
quick dinner after a long day 2 1 /,
years ago, he got more than he
ordered. He also got a shidduch
(match).
A medical resident at Garden City
Hospital, Dr. Agrest found himself
talking to the friendly waitress.
When he found out she was not
only Jewish but also had an unmar-
ried daughter in nursing school, he
reached for his card. "Here's my
number," he said. "Have your
daughter call, if she's interested."
The daughter in question, Sandra
Greenfield, was a little dubious, so

Dr. Kevin Agrest with his fiancee, Sandra Greenfield, and the
larger-than-life kibitzer who was present for the "shidduch."

she looked up Dr. Agrest on the J-Date Web site.
"When I first saw him," Sandra said, "my reaction
was, 'Oh my God, he's so cute! My mother finally
did it right!'"
The couple became engaged last March. They
recently became members of Temple Shir Shalom in
West Bloomfield, where they will be married May 29.
Greenfield, 25, will graduate from the Henry
Ford Health System School of Nursing this spring.
The daughter of Michael and Maria Kallen of West
Bloomfield and the late Gary Greenfield, she lives
in Waterford and works full time for West
Bloomfield dermatologist Dr. Ronald Kerwin —
where her fiance is a patient.
Dr. Agrest, 30, graduated from Michigan State
University and received his medical degree from
MSU's College of Osteopathic Medicine. The son
of Martin and Irene Agrest of West Bloomfield, he
will finish his family practice residency in July.
Despite their busy schedules, the couple have found
time to plan their wedding on schedule. 'All that's left
is the invitations," Greenfield said. ❑
