Kurt is a publisher, ironic columnist and a celei
brated revue star. This summer of '32 he travels
to the castle Gripsholm in Sweden with girlfriend
Lydia, seductive singer Billie and flyboy Karlchen,
where they are together for their vacations. But
having written at one point, "all soldiers are mur-ii
derers," even there Kurt is pursued by the army of
the Reich. He sees the future and decides not to
return to Germany. Towards the end of their sen-1 1 ,
sual, boisterous, and bitter journey to the North,
the four summer guests finally admit to them-
selves that after 1932, nothing can ever be th
same again.
