Obituaries ,Matkew oro - Y-oy 14, 1930 — Narck 3, 2004 Theyoungest of twelve children, Mathew Borovoy was a devoted family man. He leaves the only remaining sibling, Hannah Sterne, who resides in Sacramento, California. Originally from Salem, Ontario,. Canada, he moved to Detroit at age 17 in 1947. He obtained his Podiatric Medical degree in 1955. He served in the Medical Corps in the Korean War. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Joyce Weisman. Mat and Joyce's pride in life was raising their three children, Marc, Cindy, and Debra. Mat and Joyce were blessed to see their families grow. Cindy's husband Jeffery Diskin, Marc's wife Michele Flusty and Debra's husband Bruce Garelik were welcomed into the family as additional daughter and sons. His pride grew when the family was blessed with eight grandchildren, Joshua, Rachel, Michael, and Jacob Diskin; Danielle and Brandon Borovoy; and Lauren and Seth Garelik. Mathew's heart was filled with joy seeing his grandchildren educated Jewishly at Hillel Day School, and at the Jewish Academy OBITS from page 97 of Metropolitan Detroit. Dr. Borovoy graduated from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1955. He obtained his surgical training while in the military. He practiced for 48years, 18 of thoseyears with his son Marc. He was actively involved in his profession. Dr. Borovoy was responsible for teaching Podiatric Residents, as Residency Director of Straith Hospital. He served as President of the Michigan Podiatric Medical Association and was on staff at Sinai Hospital, and Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. He was a lifelong member of Congregation B'nai Moshe. He was a strong supporter of the State of Israel. He actively supported Israeli Bonds, the Jewish Theological Seminary, Bar-Ilan University and the Jewish Academy of Metropolitan Detroit. Mathew_Borovoy had the ability to see that special spark that resides in all human beings and he knew how to ignite it. His patients spoke about the special Qualities he had as a human being always offering advice and insights into their lives helping them solve their problems. He had an uncanny ability to touch everyone he met. He will be missed by his family, close friends and colleagues. He leaves his family with strength, happiness and joy knowing he has helped make this world a better place.
