Maze' Told IS CADEMY BAR/BAT MiTzvAns from page 67 Metropolitan Detroit Emily Brooke Weisman, daughter of Joanne and Dr. Marc Weisman and sis- ter of Zach and David, will read from the Torah on the occasion of her bat mitzvah Saturday, March 13, at Temple Israel. Her grandparents are Dorothy Weisman and Lillian and Seymour Katz. She is also the grand- child of the late Donald Weisman and the late Bill Movish. Emily attends Berkshire Middle School in Birmingham. For one of her mitzvah projects, she led a craft class at the Fleischman Residence in West Bloomfield, showing seniors how to make fleece blankets. She has also enjoyed doing other craft classes there on an ongoing basis. My name is Debbie Landau. Two years ago, our son Ryan expressed the desire to enroll at JAMD after eight years of public school. We visited the school and what we saw impressed us. Ryan's day-long visit confirmed his hunch that JAMD was the school for him. As parents, though, we knew it was ultimately our responsibility to provide the most well-rounded education for our children. Sending Ryan to JAMD is the best decision we could have made. . Beyond the outstanding education there are many opportunities to play sports. The social networks within the school are so strong. Ryan has friends in all grades and from all different Jewish backgrounds, His Jewish education enriches our entire family. The Academy goes out of its way to make parents feel comfortable in being a part of their child's high school education. I tell all my friends that they should give their child the JAMD experience. It is truly a privilege to be part of the Jewish Academy family. Shaye Alexandra Winer, daughter of Gini and Richard Winer, will celebrate her bar mitzvah Saturday, March 13, at Havdalah services at Temple Israel. Her brother is Corby and her proud grandparents are Carol Bendersky and Robert Kaufman. She is the grandchild of the late Carol Ann Kaufman and the late Sally and Barney Winer. Shaye is an honor student at Abbott Middle School in West Bloomfield. As part of her mitzvah projects, she organ- ized a baby item drive for the Grace Center of Hope and was also a volunteer at the Temple Israel New Year's Eve party. Applications now being accepted.
