John Kerry did better Tuesday among Jews than among non-Jews in four out of five primary states with Jewish exit polling data. Kerry, D-Mass., swept nine of the 10 states voting in primaries Tuesday, clinching the Democratic nomination. In New York, exit polls showed Kerry winning 72 percent of the Jewish vote, and 61 percent of the general vote. In his home state of Massachusetts, Kerry received 78 percent of the Jewish vote and 72 percent of the statewide vote. In Maryland, he received 64 per- cent of the Jewish vote, 5 percent higher than the state percentage. In Connecticut, Kerry garnered 69 per- cent of the Jewish vote, compared to 58 percent statewide. In California, Kerry performed as well among Jews as he did among non-Jews — about 65 percent. Air Strike In Gaza Jerusalem/JTA — An Israeli air strike killed two Hamas members and a third person in Gaza. Witnesses said two missiles, appar- ently fired by an Israeli helicopter gunship, blew up a car carrying the two Hamas members outside Netzarim. Love For The Jews? Denver/JTA A pastor in Denver apologized for a roadside sign saying Jews killed Jesus. The Rev. Maurice Gordon's new More Israel and national news, www.jewish.com sign reads, "I am deeply sorry for offending the Jewish people, whom I love." The earlier message was inspired by Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, Gordon said. Gordon, who has long put up signs condemning homosexuality and abortion, also caused controver- sy when he said Tuesday that Jews need to forgive Germans for the Holocaust. Not Child's Play Jerusalem/JTA — An Israeli mil- itary court convicted three would-be terrorists, ages 12, 13 and 15. The three boys from a Palestinian village near Nablus were found guilty of belonging to Islamic Jihad and planning an attack on the near- by Israeli city of Afula. They were arrested last week while preparing homemade guns. Palestinian security officials dis- missed the boys as "pranksters." Israeli military officials said the army was checking options for incarcerating the three; their convic- tions carry possible prison sentences of 10 years. . Al Qaida Warning Jerusalem/JTA — Al Qaida terror- ists are focusing on Jewish sites among their top three targets, Britain's finance minister said. Speaking this week at the annual dinner of the Jewish community's security body, the Community Security Trust, Gordon Brown warned that the international terror network was focusing on Jewish interests alongside U.S. and British targets. Bridge Terror Remembered New York/JTA — Elected officials gathered to remember Ari Halberstam, a yeshivah student killed 10 years ago in a Brooklyn Bridge terrorist attack. New York Gov. George Pataki and Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., pledged to push for tougher anti-ter- rorism legislation at Monday's memorial for Halberstam, a Chasidic youth killed March 1, 1994, by a Lebanese man seeking vengeance against Jews for Middle East violence. For years, the FBI refused to rec- ognize Halberstam's murder as a ter- rorist attack, treating it instead . as a criminal act resulting from an episode of "road rage." At the behest of public officials and the boy's mother, Devorah Halberstam, the FBI reopened its investigation sever- al years later and reclassified the shooting as a terrorist act. Korea Twists Anne Frank New York/JTA — Anne Frank's diary is being used to promote hate in North Korea. CBS' 60 Minutes aired a report featuring a Dutch journalist who went to North Korea. Also, children are taught that war with the United States is inevitable and that Anne Frank is not a hero because she was weak. $ 32 99 ANelk KiDDUSH CUP Buy one piece or buy the whole set!
