She was office manager for a dental office. Mrs. Gordon was a member of Knollwood Country Club and very active and a past president at Temple Beth Jacob in Pontiac. She was a vol- unteer and a Grey Lady at Pontiac General Hospital. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Steven Mattison of Southfield; brother, Dr. Reuben Meyer of Placerville; California; six dear grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold Harris and sister-in-law of the late Betty Meyer. Interment was held at Machpelah Cemetery. Contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel. RACHEL HARRISON, 101, of Ann Arbor, died Feb. 18, 2004. She was born in London, England, and spent her early childhood in Cobalt, Ont., where her father was a gold prospector. She came to Detroit as a teenager. The oldest of six chil- dren, she was the first in her family to attend college. She taught in the Detroit Public Schools in the 1920s and was the youngest woman to become an assistant principal. She taught Sunday school at Congregation Shaarey Zedek. In the 1950s Harrison she earned a master's in special education at Wayne State University. She married Herbert Harrison, DDS, in 1926 and served as a hospital volunteer at Cedar-Sinai in Los Angeles. After his death, she returned to Ann Arbor and volunteered at the University of Michigan Medical Center. She belonged to Beth Israel Congregation in Ann Arbor and trav- eled to Israel twice.
