ADL chair joins

Farmington school board.

oward Wallach, chair of
the Anti-Defamation
League Michigan Region,
was appointed Feb. 9 to
the Farmington Public Schools' board
of education. He will fill the seat
vacated by 14-year board member
Cathleen Webb, who resigned after
deciding to move outside the district.
"Public education has always been
an important issue for me," said
Wallach, who was co-chair of the
Jewish Coalition Against Vouchers
during the 2000 election campaign.
"Public education is what has allowed
the Jewish community to succeed in
this country."
A Farmington Hills resident for 13
years, Wallach said he and his family .
had "moved from a neighboring com-
munity to send our children to the
Farmington Schools, and we have
never regretted it."
Both of his children are students at
North Farmington High School;
Jillian in 12th grade and Shelby in
9th grade. His wife, Stacy Wallach,
works part time in retail in downtown
Farmington.
