Thanks to NASA, the wires now can be made from a heat-
activated nickel-titanium alloy, which are more flexible and
keep their tooth-straightening powers longer. They can put
a man on the moon and get your bicuspids to shape up.
These wires utilize lighter but more efficient forces than in
years past. The teeth move quicker and more comfortably'
into their proper positions.

variety of colors. Braces now, especially popular with
kids, can make a fashion statement. There are colors
that are changed monthly and.can even glow in the dark. Depending upon the
office, some orthodontists utilize very small brackets, which make them less
noticeable, more hygienic and more comfortable.
Even applying the braces can be made more comfortable. Some orthodontists
use brackets (the small device to attach the wires to the tooth) that have the
orthodontic adhesive pre-placed and just place the bracket where they want on
the tooth. The bracket adhesive can be hardened with a method that uses a laser
type of light, so that instead of waiting for each brace to chemically harden, it
can be done in a matter of seconds2This minimizes the time you are in the chair
and having to keep your mouth open.
Additionally, computer programs are in place so the orthodontist knows when
each patient arrives, and can be seated as to minimize wait times. Your time is
important and we want parents to know we are respecting that.
These are just some of the advancements in orthodontics and we continue to search
for ways to make your orthodontic experience enjoyable and comfortable.
