SHOPPING THAT MAKES SENSE

JN Names Senior
Account Executives

Rick Nessel and Kathy Johnson have
been promoted to senior account execu-
tive positions with the Jewish News and
S t yle magazine, effective this week.
In making the announcement, Jewish
News and Style Publisher Arthur M.
Horwitz highlighted their records of
accomplishment and service to their
clients and the publications.
"In many ways, Rick and Kathy have
grown up with us and have been instru-
mental in helping
the Jewish News and
Style develop into
successful and
admired publica-
tions," Horwitz said.
"The promotions are
just one way to rec-
ognize them and
underscore for our
Nessel
valued clients the
caliber of account
executive we strive to
place at their serv-
ice."
Nessel has been a
member of the
Jewish News and
Style advertising staff
for 20 years, coming
Johnson
to the publications
shortly after graduat-
ing from Michigan
State University.
"Twenty years ago," Nessel said, "we
had one small office for the advertising
executives and we shared one telephone
and a typewriter. Now we have support
staff, computers, a Creative Services
Department. The only thing that hasn't
changed, unlike at other papers, is the
continued loyalty of our readers and
advertisers."
Following sales stints in local radio
and niche publishing, Johnson joined
the Jewish News and Style staff 15 years
ago. She is a previous winner of the
Marketing Executives of Detroit sales-
person of the year award.
Said Johnson, "I've seen a lot of
changes in my 15 years at the Jewish
News and Style. It's an exciting time to
be in advertising and I look forward to
the new challenges to come."
Published every Friday since 1942,
the Jewish News has evolved into the
country's most admired community
weekly. Style, Oakland County's premier
lifestyle magazine, appears bi-monthly
and is in its 19th year of publication.
Both are part of Southfield-based
Jewish Renaissance Media.
