I
f you're excited about an upcoming
event — a new baby, a new house, a
wedding or a birthday — you might
want to get acquainted with Robyn
Miller.
Robyn Miller, of Robyn Miller Design, cre-
ates fun and colorful invitations and
announcements. Miller says, "I try to design
announcements for the urban mom that are
fun, hip and funky. All designs are illustrated
and designed by me. I am very particular
about the look of each card. I always try to use
vibrant colors and bold
graphics."
Miller initially
began designing birth
announcements as
gifts for friends, but
word spread quickly
about her adorable
designs and they
became so popular
that she decided to
launch her own line of
announcements in
May 2002. Presently,
Robyn Miller Design
also includes birthday
invitations, shower
invitations, rehearsal dinner invitations, mov-
ing announcements and gift stickers. Says •
Miller, "I'm inspired by each new design and
the joy I hear when customers see their invi-
tations for the first time. It sounds so cliché,
but I love making people happy. What's
fun about my job is that I am always work-
ing with clients who are excited about an
upcoming event — a new baby, a move to
a new house, a birthday party."
Miller, 32, grew up in West Bloomfield
where she attended Andover High School.
She continued her education at the
University of Michigan, receiving a bache-
lor of fine arts degree. After graduation in
1993, Miller began her career in New York
City designing children's books, and then
soon moved on to the magazine industry.
Currently, along with her work on Robyn
Miller Design, she is the art director for
Self magazine in New York.
Miller's designs are sold in stores in New
York City, New jersey, Connecticut,
Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Phoenix and
Chicago. Locally, her invitations and
announcements can be found at GiftPeople in
Franklin, Greetings From in West Bloomfield,
Lee's Specialty in Bloomfield Hills, and on
her Web site, www.robynmillerdesign.com .
Miller hopes to expand her designs in the
future.
