Born in Toronto in 1904, she first helped raise three younger siblings and then moved to Detroit and worked as a manager for part of her family, who owned Fort Wayne Hotel. Mrs. Orley then became a major buyer for women's clothing and became well Orley known throughout New York and Detroit. She married Lou Littman and became his partner at Lou Littman and Co., a major wholesaler for ladies' ready to wear. The company sold to most of stores in Detroit. She belonged to Congregation Shaarey Zedek and its sisterhood and donated stained glass windows to the synagogue. She was also a member of Hadassah and American Technion Society and an active trader with the stock market.
