"Magda and I became
friends during the film-
ing, and we keep in
touch. The dolls are
wonderful, and I have
three in my home."
There will be a recep-
tion to open the exhibit
at 7:30 p.m. Thursday,
Feb. 5, when Yagoda will
answer questions about
Marvin Yagoda with some of the Magda Watts dolls in
his collection.
his collection.
Also at the reception
will be artist Julie
Langensiepen, who has created dolls of her own for a companion exhibit, "Doll
Ecology: Whimsical Forms in Nature." Langensiepen's figures are very fanciful
and were developed using lots of imagination.
"I think everyone can-appreciate the work that Watts has done," Yagoda
says. "Those who view the film will appreciate the personal and touching
story that is told." ❑

"The Dolls of Magda Watts" and "Doll Ecology: Whimsical Forms in
Nature" will be shown Feb. 5-March 25 at the Janice Charach Epstein
Gallery in the West Bloomfield Jewish Community Center. There is an
opening reception Thursday, Feb. 5. Liberation of the Spirit: The Journey of
Magda Watts will be screened 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19; there is no
charge but reservations must be made in advance. Gallery hours are 10
a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Wednesdays, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursdays and 11
a.m.-4 p.m. Sundays. (248) 432-5448. -
