John also designed four of the five fireplaces and chose hand-painted wallpapers to mimic European designs of the 18th and 19th cen- turies. Additionally, he oversaw the 7,000 linear feet of hand-carved crown mouldings, and designed the ornate staircase balusters. Sharon calls John a true Renaissance man. "He even obtained a nursery license, hired a crew and did all of the landscaping in three weeks," she says. Inside and out, Villa Cini reflects the tastes and lifestyle of its owners. "It's our dream home," says Sharon. Villa Cini will be featured on the Groves High School Heart of the Home Tour, 12-4 p.m., Feb. 8. The tour includes homes in Franklin, Beverly Hills and West Bloomfield. Tickets are available for $20 at Groves High School, Twelve Mile and Evergreen roads, and the Apple Tree Room in Franklin.
