CHARLOTTE SCLAR, 96, of
Southfield, died Dec. 29, 2003. She was
a teacher and librarian at Cranbrook
Institute and Temple Israel, a volunteer
at Southfield High School and active
with the Detroit Science Museum. At
the age of 78, after spending a dozen
years compiling data and writing, she
published The Smithsonian: A Guide To

Its National Public Facilitators in
Washington, D.C. published by
McFarland and Company of Jefferson,
N.C. The book contains 400 pages of
personal observations, descriptions and
data.
Mrs. Sclar is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Lee and Diana Sclar of
New Jersey, Dr. William and Jeanette Y.
Solar of Kansas; grandson,' oshua Sclar;
great-grandson, Sam Kofman and step-
grandchildren, Deborah Stoppello and
husband, Kent Bunting, Kathryn
Stoppello and husband, Harold
Kofuian. She was the beloved wife of the
late Martin D. Sclar.
Contributions may be made to JARC,
Hadassah or a charity of one's choice.
Interment at Clover Hill Park Cemetery.

JEROME J. SILVARMAN, 68, of West
Bloomfield, died Jan. 2, 2004.
He is survived by his brother, Allen
Barry Silvarman of Glendale, Calif.;
niece and nephew, Shelley and David
Cox, Jeffrey Silvarman.
Interment at Machpelah Cemetery. A
memorial service will be held at a later

DR. MEYER STAMELL, 96, of
Farmington Hills, died Jan. 1, 2004.He
was born in Brooklyn, settled briefly in
Malden, Mass., and then moved to
Detroit.
Dr. Stamell served in the U.S. Army
during World War II in the Medical
Corps.
He is survived by his daughters and
son-in-law, Rhoda Stamell of
Farmington Hills, Sheila and Jan van der
Marck of Huntington Woods, Marcia
Stamell of Massachusetts; son and
daughter-in-law, Joseph and Adrienne
Stamell of Huntington Woods; grand-
children, Robin and Peter Fisher, Josh
Pollack, Erik and Jacqueline Stamell,
Rachel Havrelock and Yuri Lane, Jake
Stamell; great-grandchildren, Zoe and
Allie Fisher and Alex Stamell. He was
the beloved husband of the late Rose
Stamell.
