Bar/Bat Mitzvah Neil Joseph Barris will be called to the Torah on the occasion of his bar mitzvah Saturday, Jan. 10, at Temple Israel. He is the son of Amy and Sanford Barris and the brother of Aaron, Gayle and Kelsey. His proud grandparents are Sandra and Dr. Fred Bernstein. He is also the grandchild of the late Davida and Nathan Barris. His late great-grandparents are Esther Smolka and Mary and Victor Bernstein. Neil is a student at Clifford Smart Middle School in Walled Lake. As part of his mitzvah projects, he donat- ed funds to the Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit and volunteered at the Weisburg Cancer Center in Farmington Hills. Bradley Evan Beckwith, son of Debbie and Richard Beckwith, will celebrate his bar mitzvah Friday, Jan. 9, at Temple Israel. He is the brother of Ashley and Jordyn. His proud grand- mother is Blanch Duke. He is also the grandchild of the late Abraham Duke and the late Dorothy and Arthur Beckwith. Bradley, an honor student, attends Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills. He felt volunteering with the residents at the West Bloomfield Nursing Home was his most meaning- ful- mitzvah project. He also enjoyed the experience of working at Temple Israel's Labor Day picnic. Taylor Wish Chaness, daughter of Shelley and Neil Chaness, will read from the Torah on the occasion of her bat mitzvah during Havdalah services Saturday, Jan. 10, at Temple Israel. She is the sister of Bret and Madison. Her proud grand- parents are Enid and Fred Chaness and Millie Wish. She is also the grandchild of the late Ben Wish. An honor student at Walled Lake Middle School, Taylor sponsoied a family through the One Family organization, a group that assists victims of terrorist attacks in Israel. She also made teddy bears and get-well messages that were sent to Children's Hospital of Michigan. Justin Michael Dacey will celebrate his bar mitzvah Saturday, Jan. 10, at Temple Israel. His parents are Dr. Linda Goodman and Stewart Stahl and Rob and Karen Dacey. He is the brother of Lauren and the grandchild of Dr. Charles Goodman. His proud great-grand- mother is Rose Covel. An honor student at Abbott Middle School in West Bloomfield, Justin helped at Temple Israel's school office and especially enjoyed his work at St. Joseph Hospital, where he took his dog to visit with patients.
