This course offers an explanation of the remarkable and perhaps surprising Jewish
literature written after the Bible but before the Talmud. We will examine how such texts
as the Dead Sea Scrolls influenced our understanding of the Bible and led to the
emergence of Christianity and Rabbinic Judaism.
