PAULINE MILLER, 81, of Boca
Raton, Fla., died Dec. 14, 2003. For
many years, she was the co-owner of a
Baskin Robbins in Delray Beach, Fla.

HARRY PORTNER, 90, former

Detroiter of Pittsburgh, died Dec. 5,
2003. He was the founder and owner
of three businesses in Detroit: X-L
Plumbing and Heating, Willow Run
Distributing and Professional Piping.
He and his wife were long-time mem-
bers of Adat Shalom Synagogue.
Mr. Portner was a
Goodfellow for 40
years, a past-presi-
dent of the Chesed
Shel Emes, (Hebrew
Benevolent Society)
and a life member of
Perfection-Mosaic
Lodge as a Mason

and Shriner. For the last few years,
as a resident of Schenley Gardens in
Pittsburgh, he continued his com-
mitment to community activism by
conducting regular Shabbat and hol-
iday services for the residents, giving
frequent poetry readings, teaching
contract bridge, leading a weekly
Yiddish Circle and being the resi-
dents' representative to the govern-
ing board.
Mr. Portner is survived by his cher-
ished wife of 67 years, Genevieve
"Geri" Rossen; children, Elaine and
Paul Pilkonis of Pittsburgh; son,
Marvin Portner of Los Angeles; sister,
Faye Soffen; sisters-in-law and brother-
in-law, Ethel Stern Portner, Jordan
ossen, Elizabeth Bunn, Sylvia Rossen
thane; grandchildren, Daniel, Judith,
d Rebecca Blank; Michael and Marie
alloy; Jessi_c_a_, Rebecca, Adam and
chelle Portner; great-grandchildren,
arc and Maximilian Malloy, and
annah and Mia Portner. He was the
brother of the late Samuel Portner and
the late Molly Pitzak; brother-in-law of
the late Irving Pitzak. The late David
Schane and the late Joseph Soffen.

Cemetery in Pittsburgh.
