Cafe Europa Chanukah Party offers camaraderie.

inety Holocaust survivors,
their families and friends
enjoyed a special
Chanukah Cafe Europa at
the Jewish Community Center in Oak
Park on Dec. 15. The audience was
treated to a Jewish sing-along present-
ed by Vivian Stollman, Sonny
Lipenholtz and the JCC Choir.
The festive musical atmosphere was
filled with warmth and camaraderie.
On this holiday of Jewish survival,
Holocaust survivors and their families
came together to celebrate life.
Morry Levin of West Bloomfield, a
son of Holocaust survivors, brought
his father, Bendet Lewkowicz, and
aunt, Eva Wimmer.
"It's nice to see in 2003 a group of
survivors get together to sing, laugh
and share with one another," Levin
said. "It's nice that they can have a
place like this to go be with other sur-
vivors. No one else can understand
what they went through."
Miriam Rubenstein of Livonia, who
celebrated her birthday at the event

with her husband, Morris, said, "It
was very, very nice. Everybody was
friendly and happy, and we all sang
along with the group."
Sidi Weiss of Oak Park said, "The
music was very good and the latkes
were hot. The atmosphere was won-
derful."
Cafe Europa is a monthly program
of Jewish music and refreshments
sponsored by the Program for
Holocaust Survivors and Families of
the Jewish Home and Aging Services
and the JCC.
