Sisterhood celebrated its 50th
anniversary at the annual fall mem-
bership dinner featuring storyteller
Corrine Stavish. The event was coor-
dinated by Marcia Tanzman, mem-
bership vice president.
Women's League for Conservative
Judaism Michigan Branch President
Judie Blumeno presented the second

annual Todah Rabah certificates to
Hilda Bloom, Esther Hammer and
Tibie Rudofsky for outstanding serv-
ice to the sisterhood.
Bloom served on many commit-
tees and was honored as the hand-
craft chair. Hammer assists in the set
up for sisterhood events and volun-
teers to help with mailings. Rudofsky
is the Torah Fund chair.

YIOP Offers
Hebrew Class

Kolel Moshe
Hosts Professor

The Young Israel of Oak Park will offer
a Hebrew reading crash course as part of
its Beit Midrash program's winter semes-
ter. Taught by Rebecca Feldman, this is
a 12-week class.
Other courses offered include:
• "Open Beit Midrash," led by
Kollel Torah MiTzion members.
Students may learn Rambam with
Rabbi Zvi Fass, explore Hilchot Shabbat
in Hebrew with Rabbi Shlomo Sobol or
choose a private study partner for in-
depth learning on a topic.
• "Women in Tanach," presented by
Rena Spolter, is a women-only class.
• "Hands-on Halachah," with Rabbi
Reuven Spolter, is a how-to class
addressing issues in Hilchot Shabbat.
Classes meet 7 p.m. for 12 Mondays,
Jan. 5-March 22, at YIOP. They are free,
but reservations are required by Jan. 1.

Kolel Moshe, the lifelong Jewish learning
institute of Congregation B'nai Moshe,
will host guest scholar Professor Howard
Lupovitch in January for a four-part
adult study series tided "To the Edge of
Destruction and Back Hungarian Jewry
in the Twentieth Century"
The series will be held 7:30-9 p.m.
Monday nights, Jan. 5, Jan. 12,
Jan. 19 and Jan. 26. Each session will be
self-contained and can be attended sepa-
rately. Tuition is $10 per session ($8 for
members of B'nai Moshe).
The series is open to the community.
Students may register at the door.
In addition, Professor Lupovitch will
offer a daytime learning series noon-1
p.m. on four Mondays in January titled
"Traditional Responses to the Modern"
World." Tuition is $7 per session ($5 for
members of B'nai Moshe). Pre-registra-
tion is not required.
