She was a past president of B'nai B'rith Women and a past president of Rex Chapter, chairman of Regional Board of BBYO, immediate past president of Jewish Auxiliary Home for Aged, mem- ber of Congregation Shaarey Zedek and its sisterhood. She was also a life mem- ber of Hadassah, a member of Women's American ORT, a board member of Sinai Hospital Guild, a board member of the Women's Department of Federation and a member of the National Council of Jewish Women. He had a family practice, was a World War II captain in the Medical Corps in Europe and was a member of Sholem Aleichem Institute. Dr. Manidberg is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Mandiberg; sons and daughter-in-law, David Mandiberg of Auburn Hills, Dr. Joseph and Linda Mandiberg of Oregon, Takao Nagai of Illinois; daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Richard Friedland of Colorado; grandchildren, Rachel and Ben Friedland, Michael and Stephen Mandiberg. Mrs. Povolotskaya is survived by her daughter, Olga Trebukova; grandson, Dimitriy Povoltskiy. She was the beloved wife of the late Naum Trebukov. Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Ira Kaufman Chapel. HAROLD CHAIM RAYBERG, 81, for- mer Detroiter of Israel, died Dec. 10, 2003. Born in the Ludvipol, Poland, in what is now the western Ukraine, Mr. Rayberg came to Detroit in 1948. A Holocaust survivor, he lost his entire family except for his older sister, Chana. With the Nazi invasion of Poland, he fled his studies at the Rovno Teachers Seminary. He was interned in a Stalinist work camp near the Mongolian bor- der. After the war, via Russia, Germany and refugee camps in Italy, he final- Rayberg ly reached the United States and Detroit. Peddling scrap metal, Mr. Rayberg rent- ed a lot on 10 mile and Grand River to store metal, buying and selling under the name Farmington- Auto Parts. Eventually he acquired a house and acreage next to what is now Walled Lake Western High School, where he ran his junkyard. The family moved from Walled Lake in 1961 to Oak Park. They joined Congregation Beth Shalom. Mr. Rayberg kept the junkyard for 50 years. Fluent in Yiddish, Russian and Polish, he also spoke a beautiful. biblical Hebrew. In 1998, he made the first of several moves to Israel then back to the Jewish Federation Apartments in Detroit then back to Israel in January 2002. Mr. Rayberg is survived by six chil- dren, Lana Cabib of Alon Hagalil, Israel, Elizabeth Raybee of Potter Valley, Calif., Phillip Barr of Ann Arbor, Shull Rayberg of Philadelphia, Reuven OBITS on page 114 Our heartfelt condolences to the families we have served.
