earts for Hospice of Michigan
hosted a luncheon Nov. 40 at
the Bluffs of Turtle Lake in
Bloomfield Hills. Lori Pogoda was
chair of the event that included more
than 80 patrons. Photojournalist Linda
Solomon treated the crowd to a slide
show of her celebrity photographs.
Solomon is one of the photojournal-
ists that have permission to photo-
graph movie stars on Oscar night.
"Having heart is something I can
express in photographs," said
Solomon. She strives to reveal "heart,
sensitivity and energy" in her portraits.
The crowd enjoyed seeing dozens of
celebrities including Barbra Streisand,
Tony Bennett and Tom Cruise, but
gasped when they saw a photo of
Robert Redford on a horse. Solomon
and her sister Jill Rappaport, enter-
tainment correspondent for NBC, are
currently working on a book about
celebrities and their horses.
Solomon is also active in the
Michigan Humane Society and the
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern
Michigan. She worked with both
groups this season using photos children
took of shelter animals. The best of
these photos are holiday and note cards.
At the Oct. 28 Anti-Defamation
League "Evening of Comedy," featur-
ing comedian Richard Lewis, the per-
former thanked ADL for its -mission to
fight anti-Semitism. "If it weren't for
you [ADL], I would not be here." El
