The Kensington Metropark Farm
Learning Center near Brighton hosts
programs for children throughout the
year. For information on a school
group tour (a minimum of 15 per-
sons, a maximum of 35), available 10
a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays,
contact the Nature Center at (248)
685-0603.
The program is free to students at
schools in Oakland, Wayne,
Washtenaw Macomb and Livingston
counties; appointments must be made
at least one week in advance.
Day-long programs also are avail-
able for students in grades 3, 4 and 5.
For information, contact the Nature
Center.
Additionally, public programs are
available to families and individuals.
These require recristration and a small
fee. To recrister,

Upcoming programs include:
• Ice Harvesting (Feb. 1 and 2, 1-3
p.m.). Put up a supply of ice the old-
fashioned way.
• Back Yard Sugaring (Feb. 22, 10-3
p.m.). Learn how to make maple
syrup. For children ages 14 and older.
• Maple Sweet Story (Feb. 23 and
weekends in March, 12-3 p.m., con-
tinuous demonstration). See how sap
is collected for maple syrup.
• Down on the Farm Maple Sweet
Story (March 1, 1-2 p.m.). Making
maple syrup for younger children.
