We Get Questions

Q: At the last several funerals I attended, the
family stayed for the lowering of the casket.
This is different from many years ago. Is this
the families' choice or the Rabbi's?

OBITS

A: The change is reflective of comfort in an

age-old tradition. Each family can choose to
stay or not, but the families and community
are apparently finding solace in participating
in the mitzvah of burial.

Corrections

• The obituary for Fred Linden
(Nov. 7) contained a typographical
error. It should have read, "Mr.
Linden was a golfer ..." In addition,
the World War II decoration he
received from the French govern-
ment was the Croix de Guerre.

• The obituary for Baruch Rudyan
(Nov. 14) should have indicated that
he is survived by his wife, Yona, and
that he was buried on his kibbutz,
Barkai.

• The obituary for Frederic
"Freddy Far" Rosenthal (Nov. 14)
should have indicated he is survived
by his neice and nephew, Brooke
and Ryan Rosenthal.
