here was a whole
lotta soul goin' on
at Kadima's fall
benefit featuring
The Fabulous Four Tops. The
Detroit Opera House rocked to
the sounds of Motown, and;
more than 1,000 guests sang
along as they swayed and
clapped to the music.
Chairman Richard Ludwig
gushed, "What a fabulous
evening! Fabulous show, fabu-
lous audience, and all to bene-
fit Kadima!"
Lita Zemmol, associate
chair, was heartened by the
turnout. "It demonstrates the
generosity and commitment of
this community to those who
suffer from psychiatric disabili-
ties," she said. "My only wish
is to expand the base so more
people become aware of the
important work Kadima does."
President Merle Schwartz
addressed the crowd with some
moving comments. 'You are
all heroes because you have
saved lives."
The event raised $300,000
to support client services and
programs, which include resi-
dential options, counseling and
socialization activities, and sup-
ported employment.
