JEWELRY DESIGN & MFG. LTD. 4-D ur November issue of Style at the Jewish News typically features a home decor project — a renovation, a new home or just an exquisitely furnished room. The Franklin Athletic Club exemplifies all. I had the opportunity to interview the owners, Seymour and Rick Brode, while the club was under con- struction, and it's now open with an impressive assort- ment of workout options. Many of the clients enjoying the new facility are our JN staff members. I see our writ- ers and editors huffing, puffing and slimming down. My interview focuses on the renovation, but there's one point that I would like to relate. Seymour Brode is a former chairman of the Israel Tennis Centers and is on the International Board of Trustees. He is a philanthro- pist, fundraiser and champion for Israeli tennis. He has even used tennis as a bridge for peace to foster mutual respect and understanding between Arabic and Israeli youth. Before the turmoil in the Middle East, Brode was instrumental in developing plans for a Gaza Tennis Center in cooperation with the Israel Tennis Centers. Hopefully, this dream will come true. Speaking about dreams, as you know, Joe Lieberman is running for president. Although his election has noth- ing to do with this issue, I cannot tell you how exciting it was to meet Joe. As you see from the picture, we are now on a first-name basis. He is a dynamic and fascinat- ing man. I had the opportunity to meet him at the home of our publisher, Arthur Horwitz. Whatever your political views are, I do hope you find all of our stories fascinating. We highlight a camera col- lector, a new restaurant and Miss Farmington/Oakland County. Style at the Jewish News also attended the Chamber Music Society event and the Kadima benefit. Please keep us informed about the fascinating people and dynamic events in our community.
