New Testament that must be taken out of their home. They returned home, searched and found it, took it out of their home and shortly after, the woman became pregnant. It was then that my husband Yehuda remembered that we, too, had a copy of the New Testament in Hebrew that somebody gave to him that was in a box somewhere in our house. We found it, took it out of our home and one month later, I became pregnant with our now 3-year-old son, Meir Yisrael, named after my paternal grandfather Meyer Eisenberg and the Baba Sali whose full name was Rabbi Yisrael Abuchatzira. Meir was born on a Friday, July 21, 2000, at 3:55 p.m. We had left the gravesite of the Baba Sali also on a Friday afternoon, at about 4 p.m. At Meir's brit, we used the Kiddush cup with the picture of the Baba Sali that Mrs. Abergil gave us. While on that same visit to Israel in May 1999, we went to the Tomb of the Patriarchs (Maarat Hamachpelah), where there was an important rabbi consulting with people and giving blessings. My husband met with this rabbi and was given a blessing that we should be able to conceive. It was while I was pregnant that we remembered that this rabbi was actually a grandson of the Baba Sali. Whether one is a believer or not in these types of stories, I must tell you one thing — this story is absolutely true down to each and every little detail. When Meir was 1, we went back to Israel and returned to the grave of the Baba Sali to pray and to give thanks to God for answering our prayers. Two months later, I became pregnant with our second son, Yakir, who is now 16 months old. In July, Meir turned 3 and we returned to the Baba Sali for his upsh- erin. It was held on Aug. 18 — our 7- year wedding anniversary — and was such a wonderful event, filled with lots of happiness and good food, too. My parents, Barry and Andrea Eisenberg from Southfield, and my uncle, Sanford Eisenberg of Southfield, traveled to Israel with us to be at the upsherin. Many of our friends and rela- tives came from all around Israel, including Yehuda's parents, former Detroiters Yitzchak and Mad Tatelbaum. It was Yehuda's father who gave Meir his haircut after each of our family members and friends got to cut a piece of hair. Meir was most happy to have his long hair — which was down to his lower back — cut off 0 Activities mai keep you busy, but Community Life will keep you involved, body, mind and spirit!" —Jan Krist Jan Krist, pictured in our library, is a folk music recording artist as well as the Community Life Director at THE FOUNTAINS AT FRANKLIN.
