tain why these scents do the job, it

fact that they are pleasant smells said
to be relaxing and comforting.

HOW TO MAKE PERFUME

You and your older children easily
can make your own perfumes,
though it may take a number of tries
to get the scent just right. Consider
making a fragrance using only herbs
and aromas mentioned in the
Tanach.
Here are some to try: Rosemary,
ginger, pine, basil, black pepper,
mint, cinnamon, anise, thyme, laven-
der, rose, apple, cedar, cucumber,
orchid, peach, pear.
Take a small glass bottle and fill
about halfway with vodka. Add
essential oils, then mix. Add a bit
more alcohol, leaving enough room
to finish off with distilled water.
(There is no set amount on this final
water-and-vodka mix; you will have
to try until you achieve a strength of
fragrance right for vou.)
Shake it gently, then set aside in a
dark place 'for at least four weeks.
