2003 BUICK SELL OFF Moving On Cantor Glantz departing Adat Shalom. SHELLI LIEBMAN DORFMAN StaffiVriter L ast weekend, members of Adat Shalom Synagogue opened their mailboxes to find a letter penned by their cantor, Howard Glantz. He informed them of his decision to leave his post when his contract expires, June 30, 2004. "I have come to the bittersweet decision to seek opportunities for employment else- where," he wrote. - .4 "This decision was - made after much Glantz soul-seaching." Lawrence Wolfe, synagogue president, said, "This was a mutual decision with Howard looking to seek other employ- ment opportunities around the country. Obviously, he was a very important and valued team member of Adat Shalom and we wish him well. We will work closely together through the term of his contract to make a smooth transition." The cantor's letter said he and his wife, Dayna, "cherish the time spent in the Adat Shalom community" and are thankful to those who allowed them to share in their lives and who made them feel a part of their family and communi- tY. He wrote of appreciation for guid- ance, friendship and generosity shown him during his 13 years at the syna- gogue "and for allowing me the honor of being your shaliach tzibbur [prayer leader]. "I have grown professionally and per- sonally and have been given the free- dom to create and express myself from the pulpit while participating with lay and professional leadership par excel- lence," he wrote. The cantor is uncertain where he will go next. "I am certainly sad about potentially leaving the community," Cantor Glantz said. "But I still have eight months at Adat Shalom to enjoy." During that time, he said, "I will con- tinue to work toward making the transi- tion to a new chazzan a smooth one for Mat Shalom. ❑ , Stk. #282246 SAVE $8,400 SAVE $7,900 ONLY 4 LEFT! ..3.0•Nte' ONLY 6 LEFT!
