T
he Arab American Institute held its
National Leadership Conference in
Dearborn Oct. 17-19 under the
theme, "Vote 2004: An Agenda for Peace
and Justice." Highlighting the program were
presentations by eight of the nine
Democratic presidential candidates.
That turnout alone is a testament to how
the Arab American community is gaining
political clout. With more than 3 million
Arab Americans living in the United States,
politicians are realizing their vote can make a
difference.
Staff Writer Harry Kirsbaum and a
reporter from the Jewish Telegraphic Agency
provide an inside look at the conference, the
presidential candidates' speeches and what it
means to us in the Jewish community.
