"The booking of Mal and me
together is kind of funny this year,"
says Zim, planning out a program that
includes various types of music. "We
worked together four years ago but
haven't seen each other since. We're
making up for that by working togeth-
er two weeks after Michigan with a
show in New Jersey."
Zim, who will be performing songs
from opera and Broadway as well as
Yiddish favorites, considers himself a
singing communicator. This son of a
cantor also works as a cantor and
makes ethnic recordings for children.
"A lot of my songs will be from the
Yiddish theater," says Zim, who has
performed the role of ghost cantor in
Ira Levin's Off-Broadway play
Cantorial.
