Federation Hosts
Lecture Series

The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit's Alliance for Jewish Education
will sponsor a series of lectures by Rabbi
Harvey Meirovich and Professor Renee
Levine Melammed as part of the
Conservative movement and Jewish
Theological Seminary of America schol-
ar-in-residence program.
Rabbi Meirovich, dean of the
Rabbinical School Schechter Center of
Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, will teach a
two-part class tided "Coping with
Crisis: Insights from Rabbinic Wisdom"
Thursdays, Oct. 23, 30, 10:30 a.m.-
noon.
On Thursdays, Nov. 6, 13, Professor
Melammed will teach a
two-part series titled
"Defying the
Inquisition: The
Crypto-Jewish Women
of Castile" 10:30 a.m.-
noon.
Professor Melammed
is assistant dean and
Melammed
director of Women's
Studies of the Schechter
Institute of Jewish
Studies in Jerusalem
and coordinator of the
school's master's pro-
gram in Jewish studies
and women studies.
Each week's session
Meirovich
is designed to be self-
contained and may be
attended independently.
All sessions will be held at the Max
M. Fisher Federation Building in
Bloomfield Township and are open to
the community. There is a charge.
