Tiffany Jae Holland, daughter of Tania
and Dr. Gary Holland, will read from
the Torah on the
occasion of her bat
mitzvah Friday, Oct.
17, at Temple Israel.
She is the sister of
Alexander and
Brian. Her proud
grandparents are
/vIodesta Urena and
William Holland.
She is also the
grandchild of the late Ethel Holland.
Tiffany is a student at Walnut Creek
Middle School in Walled Lake. Her
most meaningful mitzvah project
involved participation in a "penny war"
to help families in Africa who have lost
family to AIDS.

Joseph Eli Roberts, son of Scott and
Judy Roberts, will become a bar mitzvah
on Saturday, Oct.
18, at Temple Beth
El. He is the brother
of Andrea "AJ" and
Max and the grand-
son of Marshall and
Phyllis Loewenstein
and the late Norma
Roberts. His great-
grandparents are
Stanley "Poppy'
Lewis, the late Eve "GG" Lewis, the late
Eleanor and Max Loewenstein.
Joey is an eighth-grader at Cranbrook
School in Bloomfield Hills. He has
delivered food on many occasions for
Yad Ezra in Berkley and has worked at
Gleaners food bank in Detroit.

Out-Of-State

Scott Sohichi Kaplan will be called to
the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
Oct. 18, at Temple Beth Sholom in
Santa Ana, Calif. Sharing in his special
day will be his brother Henry and his
parents, Gayle and Daniel Kaplan. Scott
is the grandson of Mae Hosaka of Yorba
Linda, Calif, Edith and Jack Kaplan of
West Bloomfield. He is also the grand-
son of the late Henry Hosaka.
Scott is an honor student at Oakridge
Private School. He enjoyed his mitzvah
project where he
worked with the
Orange County
Sheriff's
Department, help-
ing to organize and
distribute emergency
child identification
kits.
