"The Changing Germany."
The discussion
at 8 p.m. Tuesday,
Oct. 14, will
focus on
Germany's rela-
tionship to its
Jewish communi-
ty and to Israel
and its internal
challenges due to
Petri
the increase of
immigration from
North Africa and the Middle East.
The speaker is Midwest Consul
General of Germany Dr. Alexander
Petri. The program will take place at
the Max M. Fisher Federation
Building, Bloomfield Township, fol-
lowing the AJC board meeting.
Dr. Petri joined the Foreign Office
in 1971 and has served in Geneva,
Pretoria, Botswana, Lesotho,
Swaziland, Mexico City and
Stockholm. He was appointed the
Consul General for the Midwest,
based in Chicago in 2001.

tan Detroit will have adult educa-
tion classes for parents of its stu-
dents and prospective students.
The adult academy begins 7:30
p.m. Thursdays with two classes per
week taught by JAMD Jewish stud-
ies and Hebrew language teachers.
