Rabbi Harvey Meirovich will join
Adat Shalom Synagogue families the
weekend of Oct. 17-18.
The dean of the rabbinical school at
the Schechter Institute of Jewish
Studies in Jerusalem, he will speak at
the congregation's annual Sukkot/New
Member Family Dinner and the next
morning at Shabbat services.
Following Kiddush, Rabbi Meirovich
will conduct a lunch-and-learn pro-
gram.
Under the auspices of the Masorti
movement, Rabbi Meirovich has
served congregations
in Canada, England
and Australia. His
teaching interests
focus on Jewish
classical tradition as
it confronts moder-
nity. He is an expert
on Jewish divorce
proceedings.
At the Sukkot
service and dinner 6 Meirovich
p.m. Oct. 17, Rabbi
Meirovich will speak on "The Search
for Meaning in the Prayerbook."
During his presentation, there will be
entertainment for children.
On Shabbat morning, Rabbi
Meirovich will speak on "Judaism
From Creation to History to
Redemption." His topic for the lunch
and learn will be "The Battle for
Tolerance and Pluralism."
Steven Zinderman is chairing Adat
Shalom's scholar-in-residence program-
ming. Cindy Nagel, Adat Shalom's
Jewish Experiences for Families chair,
and Cheryl Margolis, membership
chair, are arranging the Sukkot dinner.
The dinner is complimentary for
new members; for others, adults are
$18, children age 3 and older are $10.
