A case in point is JARC, the 34-year-old organization dedicated to enabling people with disabilities to live dignified lives. For its 23rd annual fundraiser, JARC is again attracting prospective donors with a Broadway play. This time it's Mamma Mia!, the hit musical based on the songs of famed pop singing group ABBA. Benefit performances are set for Sunday, Nov. 2, at Detroit's Fisher Theatre. Mamma Mia! tells the story of Sophia (Chirina Kennedy), a young woman getting married on a Greek island. The JARC event is now the largest single-event, single- organization fundraiser in the state; it garnered $1.2 million fiom the 3,500 people who attended last year's benefit per- formances ofAida. "Our fimdraisers are aimed at a younger crowd, those with a propensity to help raise a lot of inoney in the future, who are really motivated," said Craig Erlich, 36, of Bloomfield Hills, chairman of the Mamma Mia! committee and CEO of Star Trax Events.
