included turkey sandwiches; fresh
spinach in pita; mozzarella, basil
and tomatoes in spinach wraps;
tomatoes stuffed with wild rice and
wheatberries; grilled baby vegeta-
bles and a fresh fruit salad. Those
attending the open house, around
400, also received a tour of the
Center, blood pres-
sure screenings and
a specially designed
Red Dress pin, the
new symbol of the

fight against heart disease.
The Ministrelli Women's Heart
Center, made possible through a $5
million donation by the Ministrelli
family, is the first center in
Michigan exclusively for the pre-
vention, diagnosis and research of
heart disease, and one of only 19 in
the country. Florine
Ministrelli wel-
comed the visitors
to the center, where
she volunteers

every Wednesday. "It's the best
thing we could have done with the
money," she said "It's like my sec-
ond home."
The facility is designed to make
women feel comfortable and
relaxed. A library/waiting room fea-
tures inviting sofas and a fireplace.
Terry-cloth robes
replace hospital
gowns, and reclining
lounge chairs grace
the exam rooms. All

tests and lab work are done in one
day.
The Red Dress should be a
visual red alert to get "The Heart
Truth" message heard: "Heart
Disease Doesn't Care What You
Wear. It's the #1 Killer of Women."
