Learning Series

Temple Beth El's Director of Education
Elizabeth Bloch will present a three-part
series as part of Beth El's adult educa-
tion program.
The series, "Bless Me, Too!: Parental
Favoritism and Sibling Rivalry in the
Bible," will be offered Wednesdays, Oct.
8, 15 and 22, at 7 p.m. The charge is
$15 for members and $20 for non-
members.
Beginning in October, Rabbi Daniel
Syme will present the first of two series
geared especially to interfaith couples,
"Understanding Services," on three
Wednesdays, Oct. 22 and 29 and Nov.
5, at 7 p.m. There is no charge for this
program.

Common Ground
Dialogues Slated

"Different People — Common
Ground," an initiative of the National
Conference for Community and Justice,
is intended to improve inter-group rela-
tions throughout metropolitan Detroit.
A special program will be offered to
members of the Arabic, Jewish and
Chaldean communities on three consec-
utive Tuesdays, Oct. 14, 21, 28, at the
Mother of God Catholic Church,
25585 Berg Road, Southfield.
The program is a nine-hour (3 three-
hour sessions) facilitated dialogue series
designed to build understanding, respect
and communications among people.

By Prayers?

Rabbi Herbert Yoskowitz will present
Adat Shalom's opening lunch-and-
learn series of the season, "Puzzles in
the Prayerbook," on Thursdays, Oct.
16, 23, 30.
The group will explore items in
Siddur Sim Shalom, using the recently
published commentary Or Hadash as a
guide.
The programs will run from noon
to 1:30 p.m. There is a $10 charge per
