ewish News staff writers Sharon
Luckerman and Diana
Lieberman spent time covering
the United States-Arab Economic
Forum downtown Sept. 28-30.
As representatives of a Jewish news-
paper, they were looking for mention
of Israel, of Jews or Jewish influences.
Though it's hard to escape the politics
of the Middle East, even when focus-
ing on economics, the reporters found
little negativity toward Israel or Jews.
(See pages 17-19).
Luckerman even discovered that
Arab organizers relied on a local
Jewish-owned company to pull much
of the forum together — from soup to
nuts, from decorations to organizing
seating arrangements at dinner.
