During the past 20 years, Gertner has held positions in the Detroit, Hartford, Conn., and Flint Jewish communities. Most recently, she was executive director of Jewish Cmmunity Services in Flint. Gabriel Werba of Farmington Hills, a principal of the Detroit-based public and financial relations firm of Durocher Dixson and Werba LLC, has been named to the board of directors of American Mensa, the high IQ society. He will serve as the organization's development officer. The outstanding achievements and contributions of senior citizens were recognized at Michigan's 2003 Top Ten Senior Awards ceremony at the Trowbridge Senior Retirement Community in Southfield. Among the winners were Helen Salamon of Southfield, senior in law category; Frank Singer of Southfield, senior in community service category, Suzanne Brooks of Southfield, senior in health and nutrition category, i .illian Dean Title of West Bloomfield, senior in volunteer service category. Benjamin Naimark-Rowse, grand- son of Norman and Helen Naimark of Farmington Hills and son of Susan Naimark and John Rowse of Boston, was recently hired by the Open Society Institute in New York City.
