ormally, it means "To Forgive,"
but Selichot in simple terms
means spiritual warm-up for the
High Holidays.
For most congregations, the recitation
of Selichot this year begins Saturday
night, Sept. 20, after Shabbat ends.
Typically, other inspirational programs
precede the always-beautiful Selichot
service as a way to help set the mood for
Rosh Hashanah as well as Yom Kippur.
Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown
Friday, Sept. 26.
For a partial list of Selichot services,
