MIRIAM SCHWARTZ, 88, of Southfield, died Sept. 10, 2003. She was a mortgage bookkeeper. For 10 years, she was also a volunteer at Providence Hospital and for two years at Sinai Hospital. BERNICE TERRY SHULEVITZ, for- mer Detroiter of Portland, Ore., died Sept. 4, 2003. Mrs. Shulevitz graduated from Madonna College in 1974. In 1976, she and her family moved to Portland, where she spent her working life in the social services. She worked as an intake specialist at TASC and had a long and successful career as a parole and proba- tion officer. Mrs. Shulevitz served as a past presi- dent of Jewish Family and Child Services and served on various commit- tees in the Jewish Federation. She loved volunteering her time as an Urban Tour Guide giving walking tours of down- town Portland to schoolchildren. She exercised regularly at the Multnomah Athletic Club, climbed Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens, walked two Portland marathons and regularly walked with her beloved Fairmount Walkers. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Mel Shulevitz; children, Karen Rupert, Robert Shulevitz, Hannah Golub and Jim Shulevitz; grandchildren, Mallory Rupert, Allison Rupert, Tomilyn Rupert, Dean Rupert, Nick Shulevitz, Henry Shulevitz, Zoe Shulevitz and Isaac Shulevitz.
