Limited Time! dough into a 12x9-inch rectangle about 1/4-inch thick. Spread with salad dressing; sprinkle with cheese. Beginning with long side, roll up one half of dough toward the center (like a jelly roll). Roll other half toward cen- ter. Cut down the center to make 2 rolls. Cut each roll into 12 slices; place slices on baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Sprinkle slices with gar- lic salt. Bake at 400° for 12 to 14 minutes or until pinwheels are golden brown. Meanwhile, heat spaghetti sauce until hot. Serve warm pin- wheels with spaghetti sauce for dipping. Makes 24 pinwheels. Extra Point: For quick and easy cutting of biscuit dough, use a piece of clean dental floss. Simply wrap the floss around the dough, cross over and pull in opposite directions.1 1 Unauthorized Kosher Symbols It was but three years ago that Kosher Today reported that there was as many as 1,000 unauthorized uses of kosher symbols in the US. Many kashrus agencies were forced to retain legal counsel to fight what some called a near epidemic. According to kashrus sources, there has been an appreciable decline in the fraudulent use of symbols, although symbols continue to be used without authorization. Each of the major kashrus agencies features a Kashrus Alert on their Web site and in newslet- ters. Various other Web sites as well as www.kashrusmagazine.com also include listings of unauthorized use of symbols, which include the continued use of a symbol even after a letter of certification has expired. The organizations say that they are forced to spend large sums of money each year to alert consumers. They note that a much more vigilant public as well as their own policing has helped reduce the fraudulent use of symbols. Kashrus Alerts also typically report on misprinted labels, particular- ly when a pareve item is said to be dairy and vice versa. Many of the agencies were hoping that redrafted kosher laws in several states would help address the problem. Nina's Top Ten Tailgating Tips 1. Keep the menu simple. Do as much party planning and food preparation as possible ahead of "game day." 2. Gather the equipment you will need. If you plan to make frozen drinks, take your blender plus an appropri- ate power source. Consider purchasing a power inverter that con- verts 12- volt DC power from your car's battery into 110/120-volt AC power for appliances. 3. Make a list and check it twice. Don't forget to take plenty of ice, water, extra paper plates, napkins, plastic flatware, clean-up cloths and trash bags. 4. Take one or more coolers filled with ice and plenty of cold drinks. Keep cold foods on ice until cook- ing or serving time. 5. Use resealable plastic bags (I recommend Ziploc brand bags) to marinate chicken or meat. Simply discard the bag after use. 6. Pack a jug of water, antibacter- ial soap and wet cloths for washing your hands before and after han- dling foods, especially raw chicken, beef, pork or fish. 7. Keep hot foods hot in a slow cooker. (See Tip #2 above.) 8. Use insulated heat-and-tote containers (such as Pyrex Portables) to transport hot or cold foods to the tailgate party. These come in a variety of shapes and sizes and will keep foods hot or cold for a few hours. 9. Take enough food to share with your fellow tailgaters. Invite others over to taste your creations; it's a great way to meet new friends. 10. Create a festive football atmosphere. Show your support with the team colors and mascot. Use thematic plates, napkins, plas- tic flatware and decorations. Then have fun, fun, fabulous fiin!
