WELCOME

he sixth annual Detroit

Jewish News SourceBook in
your hands continues to
be a work in progress.
While it remains THE updated
source for information about every-
thing Jewish in the metropolitan
Detroit area, each year we attempt to
add a few new improvements that
make it even more useful to you, our
valued readers.
This year's edition is no excep-
tion. The content focuses on the
neighborhoods where we live, play,

PI

eat and pray. From Ann Arbor to
Huntington Woods and points
between, this SourceBook covers a lot
of ground! While not spanning geo-
graphic distances, another new fea-
ture in SourceBook quite literally goes
from cradle to grave with compila-
tion of a year's worth of lifecycle
information from the weekly Jewish
News. Births, b'nai mitzvah, wed-
dings and obituaries are now in one
keepsake package for you.
Other highlights of this year's
edition include our Second Annual
Readers' Choice Awards, where you

picked everything from your favorite
kosher hot dog and romantic restau-
rant to your favorite comedian and
yoga studio, and newly indexed list-
ings that make it easier than ever to
find what you're looking for.
And, if for some reason you don't
have the SourceBook at your finger-
tips, there's an online version at
www.detroitjewishnews.com that you

can access from anywhere in the
world.
Planning and development for
this SourceBook began several months
ago under the veteran team of Editor
Keri Guten Cohen and Art Director
Deborah Schultz. Their vision for
the publication is reflected in the
many content and design awards
SourceBook has garnered. And the
painstaking task of compiling and
updating the listings was undertaken
by the well-organized Gina Horwitz.
Thank you for enjoying
SourceBook and referring to it many,
many times over the coming 12
months. It really gives native and
newcomer the breadth, depth and
vitality of our special community.

B'shalom,

Arthur M. Horwitz
