On Road Map

"Alternative Healing Systems or
Quackery: The Case For and Against
Complementary and Alternative
Medical Therapies" will be the topic
of the annual Sherman Lecture at 11
a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at the Jewish
Community Center in West
Bloomfield.
Dr. Alfred and Mrs. Sandra
Sherman sponsor the annual public
lectureship in ethics in women's
health.
The husband-and-wife team of Dr.
Karen Adams and Dr. Martin
Donohoe of Portland, Ore., will
speak for and against alternative
therapies. They will discuss the ethi-
cal conflicts for physicians who want
to collaborate with their patients in
decisionmaking but do not want to
support quackery.
The community is invited.

Grant Will Aid
Survivor Project

Jewish Home & Aging Services has
received a grant from the Jewish
Women's Foundation of
Metropolitan Detroit for the pro-
gram for Holocaust survivors and
families.
Support groups at the Jewish
Community Center in Oak Park and
at Fleischman Residence in West
Bloomfield will be established for
survivors struggling with widow-
hood. Dr. Charles Silow will facili-
tate.
