Zack DeVore won gold in the 200
and 400 medley and free relays plus
200 fly and IM, silver in 100 fly, 100
and 500 free, and bronze in 200 free
and 400 IM. Roman Sandler earned
gold in the 200 and 400 medley relays
and the 200 free relay, silver in 200
breast and back and 50 fly, and bronze
in 50 and 100 back.
Gabe Schubiner won gold in the 200
and 400 medley relays and 400 free
relay, plus 200 back, silver in 50 and
100 back, and bronze in 50 and 100
fly. Bowen Vernan won gold in the 200
and 400 mixed medley relays. Adam
Duke won gold in the 400 mixed med-
ley and free relays and silver in the 200
mixed medley relay. Michael Birnkrant
won gold in the 400 mixed medley and
free relays and the 200 mixed medley
relay.
Ann Arbor — Rachel Rebner and
Julia Berman each won a gold, silver
and bronze in 15-16 dance. Erica Riba,
Erin Margolis and Emily Silver earned
silver medals in 13-14. Paula Silverman
won a silver medal with the St. Louis
team in 15-16 volleyball.
Soccer player Bennett Stein won five
medals at the track meet: gold in the
1500 meters and 4x100 relay, silver in
100 and 400, and bronze in the 200.

Shayna Petit won three silver medals
and a bronze in bowling.

HOUSTON
Track — David Sandler, bronze, 13-14
100-meter hurdles. David Sandler and
Jared Anstandig, silver, 4x400 mixed
relay, and gold, 4x100 mixed relay.
Sandler, silver, 4x400 mixed relay.
Nicole Perach won a bronze medal in
15-16 shot put.
Volleyball — Detroit defeated New
Orleans, Dallas and South Jersey, but
lost to a very skilled Houston team, 15-
25, 14-25, in round-robin play. Detroit
defeated New Orleans three games to
one to advance to the quarterfinals ver-
sus undefeated Chicago.
After losing the first game, Detroit
stormed back to win game two in an
exciting match. Since Chicago had a
bye in the first round, they were better
rested and outlasted Detroit, 25-14,
24-26, 25-18, 25-16. A much-injured
Detroit squad faced a second Houston
team in a consolation match, and lost
19-25, 16-25. ❑

Results from the Maccabi
Games in New Jersey will
appear next week.
