"Exercisers are taking advantage of ideal temperatures to work out outside, and that shouldn't preclude weightlifting in the great outdoors. I find it very refreshing to take dumbbells or stretch tubes out on my porch and I get a great 'high' looking up at the blue sky, breathing fresh air and feeling the warmth of the day. "This is best done in the shade, but if you like Old Sol, you should take prop- er caution, avoiding peak sun hours and make sure you're covered with protec- tive lotion. Also make sure to stay hydrated. For intense workouts, I mix water with my sports thirst quencher drink, diluting some of the amounts of sugar ingested. Drinking water during exercise, research shows, can increase one's endurance by 10 percent. Good luck and have fun!" KORN KORNER ... Morris goes up to a beautiful woman he sees at the mall and says to her, "I've lost my wife in here and I would be very happy if you could find some time to talk to me for a few minutes." She asks, "Why on earth do you want me to do that?" Morris replies, "Because every time I talk to a gorgeous woman, my wife always appears out of nowhere." OLDIE BUT GOODIE Dept. ... Manny and Bernie met in a restaurant for a business lunch. Manny said, "I have a good deal for you, Bernie. When I was at the zoo recently, I happened to pick up an ele- phant they didn't need any more. I could let you have it for $2,000." Bernie sipped his gin and tonic and said, "Manny, what am I going to do with an elephant? I live in a third floor flat. I barely have room for my furni- ture. I can't even squeeze in a card table. So you think I'm going to buy an ele- phant?" Manny said, "I could let you have three of them for three grand." "Aha," said Bernie "now you're talk- ing!" ❑ HONORING UL & SYLVIA WALDMAN with the prestigious CELEBRATION CONCERT STARRING JUSTICE LOUIS D. BRANDEIS AWARD MAL Z.
